Changes to the format of the 2021

Balingup Small Farm Field Day

The Balingup Small Farm Field Day committee wish to advise that due to possible COVID-19 restrictions, we will not be holding our usual large scale field Day in 2021.

Our next event will be in an alternative format to showcase our town’s local produce, farming knowledge and experiences.

We welcome residents and visitors to a mosaic of smaller events over April 9, 10 and 11, 2021 with a focus on small acreage farming and the country lifestyle.

The committee would like to thank all exhibitors for their past support and we hope to see you again for a more regular event in 2022.

We will be posting further details over the next two months

Yours sincerely

Janine Milton

Chair, BSFFD Committee

Small farms. Big ideas.

The ongoing theme for the 2019 Balingup Small Farm Field Day is - Small farms. Big ideas.

The Balingup Small Farm Field Day will again showcase all aspects of small farming; caring for the land and animals, growing trees and food, cooking with fresh local ingredients and creating fashion and crafts with natural products.

With over 300 trade and market stalls, along with a wide range of farm machinery and equipment, agricultural and nursery supplies, there is something for all the family to browse, learn and enjoy.

A range of growers and gardeners specialising in everything from organic fertiliser to unusual fruits and vegetables will impart their knowledge on the basics of growing and preparing your own backyard produce. Informed choices about whether to plant olives, mushrooms, trees, or even to just have a few chooks, will be made easier after talking to people who have learnt through experience.

Let your taste buds be surprised by the array of delicious local produce that the field day brings together. Taste the wine, cheese and gourmet delights. Have a look at what the kids are learning about, cooking with fresh ingredients in the 'Kids in the Kitchen' workshops (bookings essential).

Visit trade stalls for advice on machinery and equipment and for those interested in renewable resources and sustainable family living there are many exhibits on the oval featuring solar power, water storage and thermally efficient building.

Head down to Goose Bend and visit the animals, you may even want to take some home. While the kids can enjoy feeding and touching the baby animals, you can learn about keeping animals such as  goats, sheep, pigs, poultry, alpacas, lamas, miniature cattle and horses.

You will be inspired by local craftspeople exhibiting and selling a wide range of goods including woodwork, pottery, patchwork and quilting, fashion and jewellery, all with the emphasis on being "home-produced".
