Think Globally. Act Locally.
Balingup focuses ahead for the future
Since the Balingup Small Farm Field Day began in 1991 run by a dedicated committee and local volunteers, it has showcased many aspects of small farming. This has included caring for the land and animals, growing trees and food, cooking with fresh local ingredients and creating fashion and crafts with natural products.
Moving ahead after a cancellation due to COVID-19 in 2020 and holding a smaller event in 2021 on the village green, the Balingup Small Farm Field Day is moving back to the Oval with a larger theme encompassing a change in mindset for many people - “Think Globally. Act Locally”.
2022 continues to focus on living a good life in rural communities – with the aim on personal health, sustainable land management/farming and care of the land, and developing a positive and resilient community.
These themes will be explored at the 2022 field day in talks,
conversation cafes and demonstrations:
Understanding climate change - exploring positive ways individuals and communities can act to help reduce its impact
Maintaining a healthy natural environment
Looking after your own health
Learning from other local communities,
How to develop a positive and resilient community - showcasing Balingup.
Sustainable ecological practices- permaculture, soil health, growing your own food, indigenous land care including traditional burning techniques.
The profits made from the field day help finance worthy community projects through the Balingup Progress Association
