About Us

Since the Balingup Small Farm Field Day began in 1991, run by a dedicated committee and local volunteers, it has showcased many aspects of small farming. This has included caring for the land and animals, growing trees and food, cooking with fresh local ingredients and creating fashion and crafts with natural products.

The theme for each year's event changes. What remains consistent is that the BSFFD showcases many features of small farming and living in a local community. There are talks, demonstrations, commercial and market stalls, as well as a Kids’ Corner, music, wine, spirits, and cider tasting, pet zoo, livestock and heaps of food and coffee choices.

Depending on the year, visits to farms over the weekend of the event, highlights the different local skills, talent, ingenuity and experience farmers have in a variety of different produce environments.

The Balingup Small Farm Field Day committee has a considerable amount of local experience and knowledge - they recognise that there are many people who continue to move to the area seeking advice. Together with the expertise of locals and with specialist speakers, demonstrators and exhibitors visiting for the day, there is much to be shared and learned for all.

This all helps building a positive, resilient community, with sustainable land management/farming practices, ultimately caring for the land and living a good life in rural communities. Something for everyone.

The profits made from the Balingup Small Farm Field Day help finance worthy community projects through the Balingup Progress Association.
