Wadandi-Pibulmun Cultural Custodian

Zac Webb returns to the Field Day in 2026 to share with us valuable knowledge on reading and listening to Country using the Noongar Six Seasons. The Noongar Seasons have always been a-part of Aboriginal life. Zac will share with us how to look for different indicators of the six seasons, learning how to read nature and country, using knowledge that has guided Aboriginal people for thousands of years.

Suzanne Peet of Eight Acres Permaculture is running a range of talks throughout the day on no-dig gardening, making your own simple and effective bio-fertilisers, and setting up a resilient and productive home garden. Suzanne will have a stall alongside Permaculture West, ready to talk all thins sustainable living and gardening throughout the day.

Pemberton local and Field Day favourite Charles Otway with Permaculture West is back this year! Charles has incredible hands-on growing knowledge of all things soil, growing, food and trees. Charles will give a fascinating introduction to the idea of ‘growing trees like grass’ – a newer type of growing called syntropic agriculture. Charles will also talk about building soil and the role of making compost in the process. Head over the Permaculture West stall to see Charles and the team throughout the day.

Clint Conner is an environmental practitioner based in the South West, specialising in native animals and their interactions across the landscape. He has extensive experience working in farming environments and supporting land owners with biodiversity outcomes on their farms, and brings a practical, on-ground perspective to his work.

 

Beekeeping is always a popular Field Day topic, so head on over to hear Donnybrook Local Andy Fyfe of Hufflepuff Honey, an experienced and passionate beekeeper. Andy will share some great starting points on the legalities, good bee biosecurity, site considerations, as well as hive types, equipment and good management basics.

SHEEP DOG DEMONSTRATION 

Come and enjoy learning about the skill, patience, and partnership between sheep, dogs and handlers - and join in the fun!  This will be a wonderful day of demonstration, learning, participation and laughter, with visitors invited to be part of the challenge.

DEMONSTRATIONS

Wood Turning and Blacksmithing 

We live in a digital world (and there’s lots to like about it!), but it’s wonderful to be reminded of the handcrafts and vintage skills which are still alive and well today. The 2026 Field Day will feature local blacksmith Dave Butler providing demonstrations throughout the day.

 

Sheep Shearing 

Another long-time Field Day favourite, sheep shearing is back this year with Ben Wood.

 

Bush Poet 

Greg Joass is back again to share his love of poetry and provide some wonderful relaxed entertainment. Greg will be performing after the sheep shearing, a fitting partnership!

Seed Saving 

Permaculture West will share this all important skill for home gardeners. 

​

Basic Butchery 

Local poultry farmer Jeff Pow is back to share some practical skills on how to break down a whole chicken and talk basic kitchen butchery.
